Review of the year 2020
This year has been very different than we expected – for all of us.
We had planned a lot of events, product launches, and interactions with our customers and the exoskeleton community. As you know, it turned out quite differently. Have a look at our Top 10 highlights of 2020!
Did you know?
Last year, we helped Santa to decorate the Christmas tree with the Paexo Shoulder. And this year, we also support him to carry all the presents with our Paexo Back exoskeleton!
Thank you for your support in 2020! We wish you and your families a great festive season, merry Christmas, and a happy, healthy, and successful 2021.
Stay safe and we hope to see you soon!
#1 Paexo Back Launch
We presented the new Paexo Back exoskeleton for the first time in a virtual world premiere on 10 March in front of our lead customers and logistics managers.
The Paexo Back was developed in collaboration with logistics experts and employees in warehousing and parcel distribution centres. The exoskeleton works according to a biomechanical principle: the load is taken off at the shoulder and transferred to the thighs with the help of the exoskeleton’s support structure. The energy store absorbs force when bending and releases it again when lifting.
Many customers have chosen to start exploring the potential of Paexo Back by booking one of our Experience Packages. We are looking forward to continuing to provide those in the field in 2021.
On a different note: The post about the Paexo Back launch on LinkedIn was also the second-most popular one in all 2020! Watch the recording of the launch event.
#2 Paexo Online Shop
Many of our Paexo products are now available in our brand-new online shop for EU business customers. Besides selected exoskeletons, you can also purchase accessories for the Paexo Shoulder and Paexo Neck, which means even more comfort and safety for your employees.
In 2021, we will make the online shop available to our global customer base.
#3 Partnership with Hilti
In July, we announced the exciting news of partnering with the construction technology group Hilti to help to reduce work-related musculoskeletal disorders in the shoulder area. This step opens up new possibilities in terms of health protection and productivity in the construction industry and underlines the important role exoskeletons play in building trades.

#6 New Events
Due to Covid-19, we were not able to meet you at trade fairs, conferences, or other events in person. Our solution: virtual conferences and discussions! Exo Day was one of our biggest successes with more than 900 participants. Since our ExoDay and ExoMeet events were so successful, we decided to offer monthly webinars starting from December 2020.

#7 Study Highlights 2020
A new study on the Paexo Shoulder exoskeleton states that the exoskeleton user’s muscle activation of anterior deltoid, oxygen consumption, and heart rate were significantly reduced.
TÜV AUSTRIA and Fraunhofer Austria published a joint white paper on the use of exoskeletons in production and logistics. The Paexo Shoulder was evaluated with 3.6 of 4.0 points in the category of usability: „I find the exoskeleton easy to use.“.

#8 Growing Community
We are happy to announce that more than 4,500 people follow us on LinkedIn & Twitter. We are so grateful and excited about the growing interest in exoskeletons! In fact, we were able to double our followers in 2020. In the context of our ExoMeet event, we recorded our most popular post ever.
Also, we started our newsletter and have constantly grown our subscriber base. If you would like to sign up for it, please click here.
#9 Number of the year

Paexo Exoskeleton Number of the Year
Employees in the logistics sector in Germany miss an average of 25.7 days of work per year. This is mainly due to work-related musculoskeletal trauma that often results in long-term injury. We hope to support as many workers as possible in the future to reduce this number significantly.
#10 Come work with us!
The Ottobock Paexo Team is also growing! In 2020 we were pleased to welcome 3 new team members:
- Marvyn Rieger, Sales Manager for the US market
- Sana Sliti supporting us in the French market

In 2021 we are looking forward to welcoming even more team members. And: we are still looking for passionate and motivated staff! Are you interested? Come work with us!
